ADVANTAGES OBTAINED WHEN ADDING THE PRODUCT TO FOODS

Colostrum:
Promotes re-epithelialization of the gastroesophageal mucosa and enhances the related resistance factors, thanks to its trophic, antibacterial defense components (growth factors, lactoferrin, lysozyme, cytokines, and immunostimulatory molecules);
Helps preserve the integrity of gastroesophageal mucosa.

Licorice extract:
Stimulates mucus secretion, increases mucus viscosity, and exerts anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and antiviral activity. Glycyrrhizin is metabolized to glycyrrhetinic acid that increases prostanoid levels through the mechanism of enzyme inhibition. Prostanoids are cytoprotective substances that can be useful against ulcers and gastritis.

Psyllium:
Polysaccharide transporter functioning as a barrier film, also known for its soothing properties.
CONDITIONS FOR WHICH ADDING THE PRODUCT TO FOODS IS RECOMMENDED
Gastromilk is an ALUMINIUM-FREE food formulation with ANTIACID, PROTECTIVE action and efficacy in relieving heartburn symptoms (pyrosis) and “stomach ache” (epigastralgia). It can also be considered a food adjuvant in the management of acid-related diseases and it can be used while receiving antisecretory therapy. It has a soothing action by “film-coating” and protecting the gastroesophageal mucosa as well as promoting re-epithelialization and resistance to factors inducing gastric lesions. Each tablet should be dissolved slowly in the mouth to facilitate the salivary delivery of the compound and adhesive interaction with the gastroesophageal epithelium.

Conditions for which it is suitable to use the compound as a food supplement:
Gastroesophageal reflux disease for symptomatic control of heartburn; compatible with antisecretory therapy; irritable esophagus;
Dyspepsia associated with colitis-like symptoms, including disease-related and/or persistent Helicobacter pylori after antibiotic eradication therapy;
Dyspepsia associated with colitis-like symptoms, including disease-related and/or persistent Helicobacter pylori after antibiotic eradication therapy;
Alkaline esophagitis and gastritis: anti-inflammatory, soothing action and strengthening of epithelial-resistance factors; compatible with mechanical barrier agents such as sodium alginate;
NSAID-related and iatrogenic gastropathy in general;
Infectious mucositis caused by chemotherapy or radiation therapy;
Post-gastric resection and post-gastro-jejunal-ileal bypass conditions.

DOSE, TIME, AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION
One or two tablets, one at a time, as needed.
Dissolve the tablets slowly in the mouth to allow for salivary delivery of the compound and facilitate epithelial stratification.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
It is recommended not to exceed an intake of 100 mg/day of glycyrrhizin (about 5 tablets).

HYPERTENSION
In hypertensive subjects, it is recommended not to exceed an intake of 100 mg/day of glycyrrhizin (about 5 tablets).

CONTRAINDICATIONS
If the recommended daily allowances are implemented, there are no contraindications, except for particularly severe intolerance to cow’s milk. Because of the glycyrrhizin content, the product may be contraindicated in subjects with severe hypertension, cirrhosis, water retention, or primary and secondary hyperaldosteronism.

INTERACTIONS
Because of the chemical composition of licorice, the following interactions may occur: strengthening of hydrocortisone action in the skin and lungs, increased plasma concentrations of prednisolone; synergy with insulin, increased bioavailability of nitrofurantoin. Avoid use with digitalis preparations.
